Eugene Yoo
Eugene Yoo is the Student Union’s Director of External Affairs. He’s been a Director the past three years, and is looking forward to continuing to serve the student body at Stuyvesant.
Outside of student government, Eugene loves playing chess and the violin. Currently, he is a United States Chess Federation National Master and ranked in the top 20 in the country for his age group. He is also a first violinist in the Stuyvesant Symphonic Orchestra and has performed at various venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. His love for chess and violin spurred him to found two outside 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, NYC Chess Connections and Chamber in the City, where he works to increase accessibility of the two extracurriculars to young students.
At Stuy, Eugene is the Writing Center Editor-in-Chief, the President and Captain of the Chess Team, the President of the Disaster Preparedness Club, a Big Sib, and a writer for the Stuyvesant Spectator.
Eugene is passionate about the environment and urbanism. When he’s not participating in his extracurriculars, he loves running, writing, and hanging out with friends.
